RAM Energy created the RAM Energy Fuel Poverty Fund to directly assist customers who are in fuel poverty. Fuel poverty is associated with cold homes; living in a cold home can lead to a range of health problems including respiratory and circulatory problems and increased risk of poor mental health.

Applications for the RAM Energy Fuel Poverty Fund reopens 1st November 2020 and will be open until 31st March 2021, or until the fund has been exhausted for the 2020-21 funding window.
How will the fund be distributed?
£50 for a one person household and £100 for a household of two people or more. This will be a contribution towards the energy bill and will appear as credit on a credit customers account or a pre-loaded key will be sent to customers who are on prepayment accounts.
A successful applicant must be:
- A RAM Energy customer throughout the duration of their application until the credit applied date,
- Living in Derby,
- Classed as living in fuel poverty by the Low Income, High Cost Indicator.
How to apply?
Recommending agents have copies of the RAM Energy Fuel Poverty Fund Application Form. Please find a list of recommending agents below; we advise visiting an agent who you have already been in contact with where possible. Applications are only to be reviewed by recommending agents.

- Derby Help and Advice.
- Citizen Advice at Sinfin library.
- Welfare Reform Team at Derby City Council.
- Liversage Trust.
- Marches Energy Agency.
What information is needed on the application form, and how is it used?
The information on the form will be used to confirm the eligibility criteria, this includes checking to ensure you are a RAM Energy customer and using the information to complete the Fuel Poverty calculation using the Low Income, High Cost Indicator.
How long will it take to find out if I am successful?
When the RAM Energy team receive the application they will determine if it is successful within five working days. A confirmation will be sent to the recommending agent to confirm if the application was successful or unsuccessful. The recommending agent will then relay this information to the applicant. The credit will be applied to successful credit customers accounts within 15 working days, prepayment customers should allow an additional three working days to receive the pre-loaded key.
Will RAM Energy be running the scheme again?
Yes, it is our intention to run the scheme for many years to come. In addition, following the completion of the 2019-20 funding window we will send out evaluation forms to all recommending agents and all applicants requesting feedback to see where we can improve the RAM Energy Fuel Poverty Fund in the future.
